BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) - Bay St. Louis city leaders were made aware of a proposed water project that raised a few eyebrows Tuesday night.
The Department of Marine Resources has plans to build a commercial fishery operation in the Bay of St. Louis.
The project calls for a 24-acre oyster farm between the Bay St. Louis Bridge and railroad bridge.
According to the DMR, the farm would use timber piling that could protrude as much as ten feet above the water. Baskets below the surface of the water would cultivate the oysters.
There is a group opposed to the plan in Henderson Point.
City council will vote on whether it will support the idea Thursday night.
