No. 6 MSU Bulldogs will take a swing at UL-Monroe at MGM Park Wednesday night

There will be plenty of excitement Wednesday night at MGM Park when No. 6 Mississippi State takes on UL-Monroe in a college baseball game at MGM Park.  Game time is set for 7:05 p.m.

The 24-12-1 Bulldogs aim to get back under the win column after getting swept by Texas A&M over the weekend in Starkville, dropping MSU to 8-7 in SEC play.

Jake Mangum leads Mississippi State with a .433 batting average.  Cody Brown of Biloxi is batting .271.

Besides Brown, two coast pitchers are doing well for the Bulldogs.  Freshman Konnor Pilkington from East Central carries a 1.69 earned run average.  He's 1 and 0 on the season with 21 strikeouts in 21 1/3 innings.   He's done well in pressure situations especially in the Florida series when he threw four scoreless innings in relief.

Zac Houston of Poplarville has posted a 2-0 record with a 2.00 ERA with 23 strikeouts in 18 innings pitched.

Louisiana-Monroe enters the Mississippi State game with a 15-21 record.  The Bulldogs lead the all-time series with 25 wins and 7 losses.  The Warhawks defeated Mississippi State 7-1 in 2009.

Tickets are still available but as of last week 4,000 tickets had been sold for the game at MGM Park.
