PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) - After being shut down for more than a week, Chicot Road re-opened on Monday.
The road had been closed to traffic north of Highway 90 for the past nine days due to a gas leak. It re-opened after officials gave the all-clear.
The leak was detected after gasoline was found at a Jackson County Utility Authority lift station and the lines traced it to the area.
Most businesses in the area remained open during the road closure. Drivers were re-routed to service roads to access those businesses.
