GAUTIER, MS (WLOX) - On Saturday, thousands took advantage of a rain-free day to enjoy the annual soccer district tournament in Gautier.
The tournament gives players the opportunity to come down and enter the playoffs. Pear River Soccer Club coach Chad Craft plans to lead his all-girl team to victory.
"It's a good process. All of these teams are usually competitive, and it's all about having fun. But, the girls are here and they wanna win just as much as everyone else."
Competition isn't the only thing the tournament brings to Gautier.
"It's a big economic boost right here. I know we're staying local, we're eating at the restaurants and shopping at the local stores," said Craft.
The tournament will continue Sunday with contest finals.
"It stems from singing river to green county, all in that area, all over the state," said George County Soccer Club President, Mike Ramshar.
