BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Crime and the dangers of being a law enforcement office are hitting home for one Biloxi cop after his father was shot from behind multiple times.

Biloxi offier Todre Clopton is in Houston today with his father, who is recovering after being shot in the line of duty.

His fellow officers in Biloxi are offering their support to their brother in blue, including taking a van to Houston on Saturday for the day to visit Todre and his dad.

While preparing for their Friday night shift, the officers waited to hear more details on their Clopton's dad, a cop himself in the Houston area.

"We'll certainly be there for Officer Clopton and do whatever we can do for him and his family," said Biloxi police officer John Miller.

Todre's father, Harris County Deputy Constable Alden Clopton, was shot at six times Wednesday night while assisting another deputy during a routine traffic stop. During a press conference, doctors said Alden is doing well.

Todre says he's grateful for all the support his father is receiving.

"He has shown his due diligence and dedication to the community that he serves because he grew up on the same streets," said Todre., who had just gotten off a ten hour overnight shift when he learned his dad had been shot.

"I told him to go to Houston and take care of his family and we'll tend to this here," said Lt. Tim McKaig with the Biloxi Police Department.

Authorities in Houston are encouraging the public to give up information on the shooting.

"Anybody out there that may have some information that can help us catch this person," said Harris County Precinct 7 Constable May Walker. "Because we think that our officer was ambushed."

For now, Todre's work family is doing what they can to offer their support to him and his family.

"Todre's a great guy. I don't know his dad, but I'm sure his dad's a great guy too," said McKaig. "We love him and we hate that this has happened and we got him in our prayers."

"I'm sure it's upsetting to most of the guys, but again most of them have stepped up want to know what they can do to help," said Miller. "We'll certainly be there for Officer Clopton and do whatever we can for him and his family."

Officials said the shooting was caught on surveillance video. Still, no suspect has been arrested yet in this case.

According to Todre, his father dealt with a similar situation while on duty before.

A Go Fund Me account has been set up to help the Clopton family.
