Brent Rooker, Gavin Collins and Luke Alexander each blasted home runs to help lead Mississippi State past Memphis 11-1 at Dudy Noble Field.
The victory gives Mississippi State a 24-9-1 record and now can turn their attention to Texas A&M for a three game series on Super Bulldog Weekend.
"I felt like our kids came and threw strikes for the most part, "stated MSU head coach John Cohen. "We handled some defensive sequences and we got some timely hitting throughout the course of the game. We're pleased with the effort. This is a tune up we need going into a weekend like Texas A&M."
Memphis led 1-0 as the Bulldogs came to bat in the bottom of the second. Brent Rooker would erase the deficit by unloaded a 2-run home run over the left field wall.
Reid Humphhreys hit a 2-run double in the third inning after Elih Marerro singled and Nathaniel Lowe doubled.
In the fifth inning Gavin Collins launched a two-out solo home run.
Keegan James started the game for the Bulldogs and was followed by Jacob Billingsley, Kale Breaux, Ryan Cyr, Ethan Small Daniel Brown and Vance Tatum. Breaux (2-1) posted his second win on the season after tossing 2 1/3 innings of shutout ball. He allowed one hit and struck out three Tiger batters.
The Bulldogs open the Texas A&M series 6:30 p.m. Friday, followed by a 2 p.m. clash on Saturday and 1:30 p.m. Sunday. All of the games will be televised on the SEC Network+.
