GAUTIER, MS (WLOX) -

Smoke billowing over west Jackson County Sunday morning could be seen from miles away.

However, authorities say it poses no danger to Gautier residents.

The small flare-up was a result of a larger fire on Saturday in the same area of the Hickory Hills community.

According to Gautier Police Officer Matthew Hoggatt, the fire was quickly extinguished.

There are currently no smoke advisories in place, said Hoggatt, but residents are advised to be cautious and notify authorities if they spot any fires.
