‘Drug dealer’ sentenced as habitual offender, gets 15 years

JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - A Moss Point man will spend the next 15 years behind bars after pleading guilty to multiple drug charges earlier this month.

Ricky Cordero Marion, 28, was sentenced as a habitual offender, because he had two prior drug convictions in Jackson County.

"Drug dealers cause and feed so many problems in our society. They destroy lives and families. I hope fifteen years, day for day, serves notice that, despite the trend by some to minimize the devastating effects of drugs, we will still hold those accountable who cause addiction by selling drugs and in turn causing crime to increase," said District Attorney Tony Lawrence.

"All too often we see young people turn to drugs, either to feed their addictions or to make money. I hope this case serves as an example of the necessity of educating our youth about the devastating effects drugs can have on not only their lives, but the lives of others and the safety and well-being of our community," said Assistant District Attorney Cherie Wade.
