Gautier woods fire extinguished; no homes damaged

GAUTIER, MS (WLOX) -

Gautier firefighters are battled a woods fire in the area of West Land and Old Spanish Trail Thursday afternoon. 

According to Capt. Gene Killen, the United States Forestry dug a trench around the 2-acre fire, which was extinguished sometime after 6 p.m.

Some homes were threatened, but the fire was quickly contained. One greenhouse was damaged, no injuries were reported.

    Since September, employees have been given three options:  Get the flu shot, get an approved religious or medical exemption, or leave Essentia. At least 50 people have lost their jobs thus far.
