GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

One person is confirmed dead in a shooting that rocked the city of Gulfport Wednesday night.

According to Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove, Mitchell Weathersby, 54, of Gulfport, was pronounced dead at Garden Park Medical Center at 9:17 p.m. Hargrove said the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest.

Two others were also wounded in the shooting at the corner of Martin Luther King Jr., Blvd. and Louisiana Avenue.

 According to Hargrove the other two shooting victims required surgery.  No word on their conditions.

When officers arrived to the scene, they found two men with gunshot wounds. Police report a third shooting victim got into a car and drove off but then crashed into a light pole near the Family Dollar on Highway 49.

Sgt. Damon McDaniel with the Gulfport Police Department said no arrests have been made yet.
