Congressman Taylor Back in Mississippi, After Visiting Troops Overseas

Congressman Gene Taylor just returned from an overseas trip to boost the morale of deployed Mississippi guardsmen. Taylor made stops in Germany and Iraq on this mission, and also gave troops a taste of some South Mississippi food they've been missing.

South Mississippi Congressman Gene Taylor and Lt. General Blum, head of America's national guard, made rounds visiting injured soldiers at a hospital in Germany last week.

"Thank you for what you do for us," Congressman Taylor told one of the injured soldiers. To show his thanks to some South Mississippi guardsmen, the Congressman brought a thousand pounds of shrimp for members of the Gulfport-based 155th Brigade Combat Team. He had hoped to bring them shrimp over the holidays, but last week was the soonest he could make the delivery.

Congressman Taylor said, "They're in a crummy part of Iraq. I'm not going to sugar coat it. The day before two of them had been horribly injured, but the moral was really good."

Congressman Taylor says it won't be long before he travels back to make yet another special delivery for our Mississippi troops.
