PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) - Two men who ran their boat aground at the Chandeleur Islands overnight have been found safe and are headed back to Pascagoula.
The U.S. Coast Guard launched a search for the men, ages 75 and 79, after they did not return as planned Monday morning.
The pair set sail Sunday morning aboard a 28-foot boat from the Scranton Pier. A family member reported they were overdue Monday morning.
Coast Guard rescuers scoured the area, contacting boats near the islands and sending radio messages.
The men responded to the Coast Guard's radio calls around 3 p.m. telling the rescuers after running aground, they simply waited for high tide and set sail for home.
