PEARL RIVER COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

Two flood recovery centers opened in Pearl River County on Friday, and volunteers didn't waste time getting started.

Crews from Massachusetts based "All Hands Volunteers" began removing wet, molded sheet rock from a Walkiah Bluff residence Friday morning. The help was provided free of charge from the non-profit group, who responds to disasters world-wide.

The organization is one of several who have set up shop in Pearl River County recovery centers to help flood victims get back on their feet.

Picayune based Manna Ministries, along with many other church groups, teamed up to help flood victims who are still waiting to hear whether the county will receive federal disaster assistance.

Crews at each recovery center are taking information from residents to find out their current needs. Help is being offered for food, clothing and home repairs.

Recovery centers are located at Pine Grove Baptist Church, 34 Pine Grove Rd., Picayune, Miss. 39466, and in Northern Pearl River County at the Emergency Operations Center at 810 Hwy. 11 South, Poplarville, Miss. 39466.

Hours and dates of operation will be from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, April 1 and Saturday, April 2, as well as Monday, April 4 and Tuesday, April 5.

The centers will not be open Sunday, April 3.
