PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) -

Ingalls is preparing to christen its 30th Aegis Guided Missile Destroyer. DDG 114 carries the name Ralph Johnson.

The story behind that name is one of extraordinary courage and valor.

Ralph Johnson was just 19 years old and had been in Vietnam for just two months when he threw himself on an explosive device to save his fellow Marines. For that selfless act, he was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.

Members of Johnson's family will be attending the Saturday christening ceremony, including his sister, Helen.

Steve Phillips will have more on the story of the Ralph Johnson tonight on WLOX News Now and WLOX.com.
