PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) -

Hundreds of Pascagoula eighth graders launched their own rockets and watched soda shoot into the air on Thursday.

Colmer Middle School won a NASA Challenge during the Pathways2Possibilities program last fall. As their reward, students had the opportunity to spend the day with scientists, engineers and other staff from Stennis Space Center.

The young scholars watched fun experiments, learned about NASA careers and got a chance to build their own paper rockets.

WLOX News Now reporter Trang Pham-Bui will have more tonight.
