SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) -

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect from Thursday through Friday for all of South Mississippi. Flash Flood Watches extend from Louisiana to Georgia.

Widespread rainfall totals of two to four inches can be expected Thursday through Friday with locally higher amounts of six to eight inches also possible.

Generally, wet soil from recent rainfall in addition to the possibility of training thunderstorms could lead to flash flooding.

Several weather disturbances in a row will move across the area Wednesday night through Friday as a slow moving cold front progresses south. The threat will begin over southwest Mississippi and adjacent Louisiana parishes on Wednesday night into the early morning hours Thursday.

As the front shifts south Thursday, the threat will spread southward as well.

We could see several rounds of heavy rain mostly from training thunderstorm cells through the Flash Flood Watch period.

Stay tuned for further updates on this developing weather pattern for the remainder of the week.
