Capital murder suspect Hubert Patrick Anderson now sits in the Jackson County Adult Detention Center. Anderson was transferred Wednesday morning from the Harrison County Jail where he’s been held since his arrest March 22 in Biloxi.

Anderson is expected to have an initial court appearance Thursday where he will formally be charged with capital murder in the death of Donta Banks.

Anderson appeared before a Harrison County judge Monday where he’s charged with felony eluding and receiving stolen property. Rita Johnston is also charged with capital murder in the case; both are being held without bond.

Banks was shot to death and left alongside a dirt road in Jackson County’s St. Andrews community. Investigators say Anderson and Johnston stole the SUV Banks had just purchased with part of his income tax refund along with the rest of the money.

Anderson and Johnston were arrested after a high speed chase through Biloxi that ended when the SUV crashed into a home in the Sunkist neighborhood.
