SAUCIER, MS (WLOX) - The threat of severe weather is forcing some major changes for the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic. Tournament officials announced Tuesday that Fallen Oak will only be open to volunteers and participants in the C Spire Pro-Am on Thursday.
"We regret that Fallen Oak will not be open to the public for the C Spire Pro-Am Thursday," said tournament director Steve Nieman. "The safety of our spectators is our highest priority, and based upon much discussion and input from the Tour's on-site meteorologist, we feel that the forecasts for Thursday warrant us erring on the side of caution. We look forward to opening the course on Friday with the first round of the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic Presented by C Spire."
Also, morning tee times for the pro-am have been moved up to 10 a.m. Afternoon tee times will remain the same. Tournament organizers pointed out all groups will only play nine holes Thursday.
