BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Biloxi National Cemetery hosted a public ceremony Tuesday morning to pay tribute to the more than 3 million servicemen and women that served during the Vietnam War.

It's part of a nationwide commemoration marking the 50th anniversary of the war. March 29, 1973 was the day U.S. troops officially withdrew from Vietnam. By the end of the war, 58,000 American lives were lost, and as many as two million Vietnamese soldiers and civilians were killed.

Tuesday's wreath laying event included comments from the Director of Biloxi National Cemetery, the President and CEO of Crusaders for Veterans Inc., and the Commander for the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association. There was also a special recognition of all Vietnam Veterans.
