BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) - The latest controversy involving the Bay St. Louis city council and mayor will be the focus of a meeting Monday night.
At issue are recent pay raises city council members say Mayor Les Fillingame gave to some firefighters without the city council's stamp of approval.
Some of the councilmen are angry with the move, saying the city already faces a budget shortfall and now they will have to deal with this.
The mayor called the timing of the raises a mistake. He said the paper work granting the wage hikes was not supposed to go to the personnel department before the council signed off on it.
The workshop meeting got underway at 5:30 p.m. at the council chambers on Main Street.
