BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - The fun for the Second Liners Mardi Gras Club doesn't stop on Fat Tuesday. The club's annual Easter Extravaganza is another chance for members to keep the spirit going all year long.
For the first time in 12 years, bad weather forced the event into the Frank Gruich Community Center in Biloxi on Sunday.
Although indoors, attendees didn't miss a beat.
"We go every year, and this is the best one," said Susan Suszczyk of Biloxi. "Every year. Always the best. They give out tons of stuff for the kids, they've always got games, they do a huge Easter egg hunt. I mean there's just plenty of food. Always a good time."
The good time is what motivates Pinkey Lewis and the rest of her club.
"We're not just about Mardi Gras," Lewis said. "All year long, we're about the community. We're about family and fun."
Some of the Easter bunny's friends crashed the party, and the Second Liners laid out the grub for hungry egg hunters. For an added twist of fun, balloons came alive in the right hands.
Games included mini-hoops, egg throws, putt-putt, fake frog flipping and a chance for cousins to act goofy for the camera.
"You get to hang with your family that came down for Easter," said Ty'Keria Gines.
Julianna Richburg is traditional about her Easter celebration.
"I like to dye the eggs different colors, and go hide them for the little kids," Gines said.
Telaysia Graves is clear about her favorite part.
"The candy is good, so I go," Graves noted. "I like candy."
Amiliyan Gines appreciates the effort.
"They're doing it for the community just for us," Amiliyan said. "Like, they don't have to do it, but they did it for us."
