WLOX reporter's parody song an ode to Facebook trolls

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - How do you answer social media trolls? If you're WLOX Reporter Jonathan Brannan, you do it through song. Jonathan decided that it was time to address what he calls "useless comments" that show up on our stories that we post on Facebook. What better way to do that than by composing a parody?

If you remember, Jonathan was responsible for parodies last year that addressed news-world issues. These parodies, "Don't Stop the Prompter" and "Let's Do Live TV", garnered tens of thousands of views on Facebook and YouTube.

Now, Jonathan has taken Justin Bieber's hit "Love Yourself" and turned it into a catchy tune that challenges Facebook trolls to do the "News Yourself."

Jonathan said constructive comments and opinions on social media are great. This song is not for the authors of those. We also especially appreciate those viewers who come to our defense online.

In the song, he asks trolls to explain themselves, and even tells them that he fully expects troll-ish comments to start rolling in about this very video.

The song was recorded by Jonathan in his home studio. He said he wouldn't have been able to put the project together without the help of amazing friends, who also happen to be really good at making silly videos.

Please enjoy "News Yourself" and share it with your friends.
