Crews cleaning up mineral oil spill in Pascagoula

PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) -

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality and the Pascagoula Fire Department created berms to contain a mineral oil spill, and they are waiting for the cleanup to start.

According to MDEQ, a transformer on a pickup truck fell over and spilled about 40 gallons of the flammable oil in front of a business around noon Wednesday.

The driver of the truck was trying to go under an overhang at Alion when the transformer hit the brick structure.

No one was hurt and there was no damage to the building. The truck belongs to Southern Power Systems of Baton Rouge.
