Pearl River ends four game losing skid with sweep over Hinds in JUCO Softball

POPLARVILLE, MS (WLOX) - Pearl River brought out the big bats Tuesday.  The Lady Wildcats beat Hinds 9-1 in five innings in the opening game of a double-header at Wildcat Stadium. Pearl River continued pounding the softball in game two by defeating the Lady Eagles 10-2 in game two.

Skyler Cook (10-5) posted the win in game one.  She allowed three hits, struck out one and walked two.  Amanda Ingram (6-6) secured the win in game two. Ingram scattered six hits, struck out two and gave up one walk.

The Lady Wildcats grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first in the opening game when Kriten Martin belted a double.  Pearl River pulled away with five runs in the bottom of the fourth.  Mary Grace Key had the big hit, a three-run double.

In game two, Katie Davis had a two-run double in the third inning.  The Lady Wildcats added four runs in the sixth on a single by Martin, and Pearl River added two runs on bases-loaded walks and a passed ball.

PRCC is back on the home diamond 3 p.m. Wednesday hosting Coahoma in a make up doubleheader.  The game had been postponed from earlier in the season.
