Southern Miss out hit Tulane 14 to 11, but the only statistic that counts if the final score and the Green Wave rolled past the Golden Eagles 12-7.
Tulane was led at the plate by Jake Willsey and Richard Carthon. Willsey was 2 for 2 at the plate with 3 RBI. Carthon had 2 hits in 4 trips to the plate and drive in 3 runs.
Senior catcher Chuckie Robinson had a bit night for Southern Miss. Robinson hit safely 4 times in 5 at-bats and drove in a run. Taylor Braley was 3 for 5 with 2 RBI.
Storme Cooper had 2 hits in 4 at-bats and scored 2 runs.
Southern Miss head coach Scott Berry used a season high eight pitchers. Houston Case suffered the loss. He opened the game and pitched 2.1 innings. He gave up 1 hit and 3 runs with 2 strike outs and 2 base on balls.
Austin Millet tossed 2.2 innings and gave up a run on 3 hits. Luke Lowery followed and pitched a third of an inning. Mason Walley was the next Golden Eagle on the mound and he pitched 1.1 innings, gave up 3 hits and 3 runs.
Stevie Powers, Clay Tageant, Hunter Stevens and Connor O'Brien followed. Stevens pitched a third of an inning, gave up 2 hits and 3 runs.
Tulane sent J.P. Case on the mound and he got the victory. France pitched 5.2 innings, gave up 7 hits and 4 runs with 4 strike outs and 2 base on balls.
Southern Miss falls to 16 and 6 on the season while Tulane picked up win No. 14 against 7 defeats.
The Golden Eagles opened a C-USA three-game series facing UTSA beginning Thursday.
