JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

The car reportedly linked to a Jackson County murder has been spotted in Biloxi. Police say it just crashed into a home in the Sunkist subdivision off Popp's Ferry Road and caught on fire.

Witnesses said the driver jumped out and ran away from the crash scene with officers right behind him. He was soon apprehended by officers after being taken down by a K-9.

Witnesses also reported seeing a woman on the ground near the crash scene. She was a passenger in the vehicle, and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Just about an hour before the crash, Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies reached out to the public asking everyone to be on the lookout for a tan 2004 Chrysler Pacifica they believe is associated with a murder in St. Andrews.

Sheriff Mike Ezell said the car was purchased in Jackson County on Monday, and it was last seen in Biloxi around 4 a.m. Tuesday, until Tuesday evening's crash.

Ezell said a deputy on patrol found the body of a black man in the middle of a dirt road near the intersection of North St. and Cook St. around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. The sheriff said it appears the man had not been dead for long.

Ezell said the cause of death has not been determined, and the investigation in ongoing. The man is estimated to be between 25 and 35 years old, and no missing person reports match his description.
