Parents upset with 'poorly organized' Easter event at MGM

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - After being postponed one day due to rain, the city's first Easter Egg Drop took place at MGM Park on Sunday.

More than 12,000 treat-filled eggs were dropped from a helicopter in three separate rounds for different age groups, ranging from 2 years old to 10.

However, many parents have taken to Facebook to say the event was poorly organized and dangerous. Here's a look at just a few of the comments:

"People were screaming, kids were getting run over and parents were in a panic...definitely not enough workers on the field for that many people." -- Steven G.

"This was the first Easter egg hunt we have brought our two-year-old son to. Absolute worst experience ever. Highly unorganized also." -- Alexandria H.

"The people in charge of the event were extremely rude, yelling at both parents and children....There was no communication for what was happening either. The people in charge should have been better organized and used the loud speakers to direct the parents to the correct areas. Extremely poor planning on their part!" -- Hunter O.

The City of Biloxi issued the following statement on behalf of Biloxi Main Street:

"The City of Biloxi, on behalf of Main Street, apologizes for the inconvenience and disappointment of those who attended today's Easter egg drop at MGM Park. It was a first-time and free event, and Main Street's volunteers were overwhelmed by the huge response from parents and children."
