BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - If you were looking for a job, the Coast Convention Center in Biloxi was the place to be Wednesday. A company called Unemployment Eliminators hosted a job fair that lasted for four hours.
Inside the convention hall, more than 40 businesses looking for workers set up shop. Organizers of the event say those employers want to hire more than 1,200 people, many almost immediately.
In fact, one company was hopeful of hiring more than 70 people today.
The employers ranged from car rental companies, shipbuilding, education, casinos, law enforcement, restaurants and even radio sales positions.
During past events, more than 500 people showed up looking for work, and officials expected even more this year.
When the doors opened at 9 a.m., a steady stream of job seekers entered the doors. They showed up dressed for success, with resumes in hand. Some have been looking for work for months, while others were looking to improve their job outlook.
All were hopeful they would land the perfect job.
