BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - It has been a day of legal wrangling before Krystal Gonzalez's arson trial begins. Gonzalez is accused of setting a fire that destroyed 20 units at the Arbor View Apartments in D'Iberville in February 2014.
More than 40 people lost their homes and belongings in the blaze.
Attorneys spent Monday in motion hearings, basically setting some ground rules for certain evidence that will be allowed in the case. Three hundred potential jurors are due to report to the courthouse in Biloxi on Tuesday morning for jury selection.
Gonzalez maintains she lit a candle which started the fire, but prosecutors say she intentionally torched her boyfriend's belongings.
