GREENVILLE, MS (WLOX) - One half of the Mississippi State University duo accused of trying to join ISIS pleaded guilty in court on Friday.
Officials say 23-year-old Muhammad Oda Dakhlalla pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Greenville to "conspiring with another individual to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), a designated foreign terrorist organization."
Dakhlalla and his wife, 20-year-old Jaelyn Young, were accused of planning to travel overseas to join ISIS in 2015. An investigation on the pair began in May after Young, who converted to Islam that April, tweeted about wanting to join the organization.
He was taken into custody to await sentencing, which will be scheduled at a later date.
