FALLS COUNTY, TX (KXXV) -

On Friday morning, crews will resume the search for cattle rancher Harold Frank who went missing after flooding in Big Creek off of Highway 6 on Wednesday night.

The search was called off for the night around 6 p.m. on Thursday. Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Warden Michael Ferguson said crews will return to the scene at 8 a.m. on Friday and at least four game wardens will help with the search.

On Friday morning, crews will make the determination whether a helicopter is needed.

Falls County authorities said Frank and one ranch hands were swept away into the water after trying to swim and save cattle from floodwaters. The cattle rancher went missing after getting separated from his employee.

Frank has gone missing before during a flooding event, including one incident where he was found in a tree after two days. However, he didn't swim to approach the cattle during that flooding event, according to authorities.

The Department of Public Safety launched a helicopter on Thursday morning to help locate the rancher. The search by air was discontinued due to lightning in the area.

Texas Parks & Wildlife Game Wardens and the Marlin Volunteer Fire Department remained at the scene actively searching in a wide area throughout the Thursday afternoon.

According to Falls County Constable Richard Aleman Jr., crews couldn't do a thorough search due to the debris and swift waters. In addition, the water rose up to 25-feet in some areas of the creek. The water covered some of the landmarks that indicated where the cattle rancher was last seen, which made it challenging when searching the widespread area.
