HANCOCK COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

It's not easy playing the waiting game when a loved one is missing, but unfortunately that's what the family of Brody "BJ" Brown has been doing.

"At first there was a lot of hope. Then, as time goes on, you can see the sadness and frustration kind of wearing on everybody. Once you get into that 48 hour period, it's becoming less and less likely that we're going to see him again alive," said Brown's cousin, Sean Tindell.

Over the past two days, dozens of friends, family members, and even co-workers have come to the campground to assist in anyway they can.

"Just a bad feeling, especially when one of your co-workers is missing, you know, and you got so much history with them," said co-worker Roderick Norwood.

At 31, BJ Brown is the father of two. He and his wife were attending a concert at Muddy Joe's with friends. She said he said he was going to the bathroom and never returned.

"BJ's wife is struggling. She's got two young boys at home. At some point, some really tough news is going to have to be broken to them unless we find him soon," said Tindell.

Even as night fell, family and friends weren't ready to give up hope. Many of them even planning to stay at the campground overnight.

"People coming out trying to offer support, you know. Walking through the woods, offering their ATVs, and everybody working together trying to find BJ," said Tindell.

During the search, family members stumbled upon a large hole they wanted to look into. Property owners granted them permission to bring in equipment and dig it up, but nothing was found.

The Hancock County Sheriff's Department suspended Monday's search at nightfall. It will resume again Tuesday morning.

Full-time Waveland city workers, primarily police officers, who take-home vehicles outside of the city limits could see a change to the city's policy soon. City leaders said the current policy is antiquated and needs to be rewritten into something that would benefit both the officers and the taxpayers.
