BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Forbes Magazine online just published an article on new minor league baseball stadiums. The reporter wrote MGM Park in Biloxi is the most interesting of the ball parks.

Tim Bennett, with Overtime Sports, was instrumental in bringing the Biloxi Shuckers to the coast. The stadium and the team have been the subject of several print, internet and TV stories.

"Southern Living, ESPN and now Forbes. We always thought this was a great park, but to be so well recognized throughout the company by people like Forbes, it's big,” said Bennett.

While the Forbes article represents great publicity for MGM Park, the reporter went beyond baseball. He wrote about other things the coast has to offer, which is a big shot in the arm for tourism.

The article called the Mississippi Coast one of the country's great unsung tourism destinations.

"It's a great vehicle. Twenty three million online visits to the site every month. We know we're getting great exposure. We know in the marketing world that content is king, so any time we have an opportunity to get an unbiased, third party to talk about the attributes of the coast, the better it is for all of us," said Renee Areng, with Visit Mississippi Gulf Coast.

The article mentioned everything on the tourism front. It highlighted the beach, casinos, golf courses, restaurants, boating, deep sea fishing and the seafood industry.

At the Visit Mississippi Gulf Coast office, Areng says the coast benefits so much from this kind of outside coverage.

"Typically, we have millions of dollars in editorial coverage, which far exceeds our $4 million we have to spend on advertising," Areng said.
