A Saucier man was arrested Monday, hours after investigators say he stabbed an acquaintance in the chest with a pocket knife.
Sheriff Troy Peterson said Matthew Thomas Schivers, 32, is charged with a felony charge of Aggravated Assault. The sheriff said Schivers, the victim, and the victim's wife were all drinking together at a local lounge when Shivers pulled out his pocket knife and stabbed the victim in his chest causing numerous severe lacerations.
The victim was taken to an area hospital where he underwent surgery and was placed in ICU in stable condition.
Deputies caught up with Shivers several hours later at his home, and he was booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Center. He's being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond, pending his initial court appearance.
