Polling location change will affect some D'Iberville voters

D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) - A voting precinct change in D'Iberville prompted some discussion and concern at Monday's Harrison County Board of Supervisors meeting. The issue involves voters in District 1 who normally cast ballots at the D'Iberville Civic Center.

Since a childrens' consignment show has the civic center booked Tuesday, voters will instead cast ballots in the adjacent multipurpose building.

"It's just 30 feet away," said board president Beverly Martin. "I think this issue has been blown out of proportion."

Circuit Clerk Connie Ladner, along with representatives from the election commission and both major political parties, appeared before supervisors to express their concerns with making the transition into the new building. A road department employee assured the group that all changes at the building were in place, including making the new site ADA accessible.

People will be stationed outside the civic center during Tuesday's election to make sure voters go to the right place.
