LONG BEACH, MS (WLOX) - Hundreds of people wearing green lined the streets of downtown Long Beach on Saturday for the annual St. Patrick's Parade.

Everybody got into the Irish spirit for the celebration. Luck was certainly with the weather; blue skies and bright sunshine.

Wesley and Tommy Ferill enjoyed it.

"Just bringing joy to the community," said Wesley.

"All the people. It's a great atmosphere," Tommy added.

Music and marching and showing off the green, Linda Garcia and Krystal Skrmetta dressed the part.

"I love the people and just enjoying the sunshine," said Garcia.

Some ladies from Wiggins were enjoying the weather, the crowd and something else.

"And the bagpipes. Love the bagpipes," they yelled in unison.

The Grand Marshal and Colleen of the parade, Richard Bennett and Whitney Sartin, enjoyed the lucky day downtown.

"We are having an awesome time, it's so much fun," said Sartin, "Everybody coming out, it's a beautiful day It's a great time."

It seems everyone was having a great time at this celebration, even 9-year-old Jeremiah Atkinson.

"I enjoyed the parade from the beads, and the food, and the nice festival and things," said Atkinson.

The Irish American Society helped organize the event. Along with the afternoon parade, the celebration included an Irish festival at the town green in downtown Long Beach.
