2016 Biloxi Boat Show features bigger selection of vessels and accessories

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

There's much more than boats at the Biloxi Boat Show. The event features 100 vendors and 13 boat dealers offering special manufacturer deals on things such as displays, accessories and even seminars. 

"We have things here for the kids, like trout fishing. They can actually learn to catch fish right here at the show, or they can watch the dog show or learn about manatees. There is so much here for the family," said President of Gulf Coast Shows Dan Miller.

President of Gulf Coast Shows Dan Miller says his boat show in Mobile, Ala. recently saw increased attendance where boat dealers made record sales.

"Evidently the public is tired of sitting on their hands and keeping their hands on their wallets. The economy looks pretty good and gas prices are down and people are spending money," said Miller.

But for those looking for something that's not a boat, there are a variety of campers, GPS systems, and even tasty jelly.

"There are dozens of people who have things here, like one guy here has siphon hose that does siphons automatically for your car or boat. There are vendors just like that offering hard to find things," said Miller.

The boat show goes on until Sunday at the Mississippi Coast Convention Center. Adult tickets are $8, children 12 and under get in free.

"We're trying to get them more active and interested in the ecosystem and lifestyle. So this allows people to try out different kayaks for different lifestyles and different builds," said Michael Pornovets of Everything Kayak.
