JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - A Florida man who failed to report to prison in 2007 was arrested just after midnight in Jackson County on Thursday.
Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell said his department was working with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on Operation Stonegarden when deputies spotted a white SUV driving erratically eastbound on Interstate 10.
Ezell said deputies pulled over the SUV, and the driver claimed he did not have identification and gave investigators a false name a birth date.
After further questioning, Donnie Tran, 41, gave deputies his real name.
Ezell said investigators checked the National Crime Information Center and determined Tran was wanted out of Gwinnet County, GA, for failing to report to prison nine years ago.
Tran is being held at the Jackson County Adult Detention Center awaiting extradition.
Operation Stonegarden is a cooperative effort between local, state and federal authorities to secure the U.S. border along routes of ingress from international borders.
