GAUTIER, MS (WLOX) -

Authorities have identified the man killed Tuesday night in a shootout with Gautier police. According to Jackson County Deputy Coroner Jason Moody, Mickey Sweatt, 37, died on Home of Grace Dr. after a standoff with authorities that began as a domestic violence call.

Gautier police could not comment on the case or any history of domestic violence and referred all questions to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation. MBI is handling the investigation, which is standard protocol in shootings involving police officers.

Wednesday, MBI agents spent the day on Home of Grace Dr. gathering evidence and going door-to-door talking to neighbors.

Witnesses to the shooting said multiple shots were fired, but investigators will not say how many.

MBI crime scene reconstruction experts used lasers and other tools Tuesday to map out the scene to help investigators get a clear picture of what happened.

An autopsy will be performed on Sweatt on Thursday at the state crime lab in Jackson.
