STARKVILLE, MS (WLOX) - Brian Baker spent 19 of his 30 years coaching in the NFL. He has coached eight Pro Bowlers, including DeMarcus Ware and Julius Peppers.
Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen said, "Brian brings an outstanding resume to Mississippi State both at the professional and college levels. In his 30 years of coaching, he has developed and worked with All-Pros to All-Americans. He shared with me his passion for getting back to the collegiate level and making an impact on young lives. We are thrilled to have him in Starkville."
In his 19 years in the NFL Baker has coached with Washington, Cleveland, Dallas, St. Louis, Minnesota, Detroit and San Diego. He spent nine seasons at Georgia Tech and was on the coaching staff that helped lead the Yellow Jackets to the 1990 National Championship.
The native of Baltimore, Maryland said, "I am so excited to be back coaching the college game and making an impact on young men on and off the field. Mississippi State has established a winning tradition under Coach Mullen's leadership. I have always admired what his teams have accomplished watching from afar. The effort and intensity the Bulldogs have played with really jumps off the TV while watching at home. It's a privilege to now be a Bulldog and go work every day here."
Baker and his wife, Nevada, have three daughters, Nicole, Jade and Jasmine.
