D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) - Clay Jones will be D'Iberville's next city manager. The city council voted Tuesday to have Jones fill the position when Bobby Eleuterius retires June 1. Jones currently serves as D'Iberville's deputy police chief and will continue in that position while working with Eleuterius until he takes on the city manager's job full-time.
Jones said after 22 years in law enforcement this was the right opportunity and the right time to take on a new challenge.
"It's professional development. I reached a point in my law enforcement career that I was ready to set the badge down and go in a new direction," Jones said.
During the transition, Jones will spend a lot of time getting more familiar with current city projects and plans.
"I'll have a hotline to Bobby Eleuterius," Jones said. "Our directors are second to none and I think D'Iberville has a bright future."
Jones, 43, began his law enforcement career with the Biloxi Police Department, then served with the Harrison County Sheriff's Department before moving to D'Iberville. He also served as director of the Southern Regional Safety Institute.
