BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - The Biloxi City Council is expected to propose a change concerning the way rates are figured at the Biloxi Small Craft Harbor.
Right now, boat owners are not charged for the size of their boat. Biloxi leaders are proposing to base the fees on either the size of the boat from bow to stern or on the size of the slip used, which ever is larger.
They also want to take into consideration the use of electricity based on the number and types of electrical outlets used by the boat owners.
"What we're looking to do is make sure that the marina operations pay for themselves and do it in a fair, business like manner," Biloxi Public Affairs Manager Vincent Creel said. "We think it is a fairer way to do it for the tax payers to charge for the entire size of the boat."
The topic is expected to be brought up at Biloxi's City Council Meeting Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m.
