OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) -

The former Taconi Elementary School in Ocean Springs is now in the hands of the city.

School district officials handed over the keys on Friday morning. It marks the end of a lengthy battle.

While students haven't attended classes there for years, the building still has several other tenants, including the YMCA and Head Start programs.

The school closed in 2012 as part of a district-wide realignment.
