GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Construction has reached the halfway mark on another downtown Gulfport attraction. The alley between 26th and 27th Avenues is being transformed into Fishbone Alley.
Underground utilities have already been replaced. The next step is installing drainage and historic brick pavers that date back to 1906.
The $250,000 project includes a lighted pedestrian walkway, vertical gardens and local artwork. The project is being paid for with federal money left over from the Gulfport Streetscape program.
Eight restaurants have access to the alley. It should open in early May.
