Pascagoula Lady Panthers ready for the second round of the 5A State Playoffs

You can never count out the Pascagoula Lady Panthers.  Head coach Carolyn Whitehead always has her team ready to play, ready to net a victory.  So far, the Lady Panthers have 23 wins in 30 games and are the No. 2 seed from the Region 8-5A ranks behind West Harrison.

Jailin Cherry runs the Lady Panthers offense.  She's netting 14 points per game and is an outstanding playmaker.
Thanks to her presence, her teammates have picked up their game. Cherry led the Lady Panthers to a 41-33 win over Stone in the first-round of the playoffs on Monday.  Cherry netted 16 points and pulled down an incredible 20 rebounds.  She also came up with five steals.

Whitehead said, "She's making other players around her better.  They're stepping up to the plate.  They want to please her.  They want to be the caliber of player she is and so that's a good thing."

"We've a small team so we have a lot of outside shooters, "stated Cherry.  "Quick and we get to the basket."

Alexis McBeath and Chabreyia McMillian are two key members of the Pascagoula Lady Panthers who have high expectations of having a long run in the Class 5A state playoffs.

Pascagoula travels to Jackson Provine Friday night at seven.
