GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - A rate increase proposal is on the table for Mississippi Power customers.
The company sent an e-mail notice to ratepayers about a new filing. The company has filed its annual plan detailing projects that the company has completed or is actively working on to meet environmental requirements.
The filing details the environmental compliance steps the company takes to create clean, safe, reliable and affordable electricity. Officials say a big project on this plan is the Plant Daniels Scrubber.
In the filing, Mississippi Power is asking for approval of an increase of 2% in retail revenues. A residential customer would see an estimated increase of $2.63 per 1,000 kWh per month under the new rates.
The Mississippi Public Service Commission will now consider the filing. Officials with Mississippi Power say there is no set date for when the PSC will consider the plan.
Customers will see an increase in the first billing cycle after the filing is approved.
