SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - At least three counties in South Mississippi will be affected by two controlled burns on Saturday.
The De Soto Ranger District will burn 800 acres in Jackson County along Joe Batt Road and Larue Road. Smoke will be visible in the Latimer and Larue areas, on Old Biloxi Road, and possibly over Hwy. 15.
A controlled burn will also be done in the southeast corner of Perry County in the Leaf River Wildlife Management Area and will include 2,600 acres. This burn will be along the Benndale/Salem School Road and on Forest Service roads 321, 321A, 307 and 307G on the Greene and Perry County line.
A helicopter and ground crews will be on site for both burns.
