BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Dozens of women wearing red filled the Biloxi Civic Center around noon Friday for the annual Go Red Luncheon and Symposium.
Along with lunch, the women visited a variety of vendor booths to learn more about keeping their hearts healthy. Medical screening such as blood pressure checks were among the exhibits.
"As you look around the room, you can see a lot of women in red. We're representing heart disease in women. And that heart disease is definitely preventable as long as we know how to take care of ourselves. This is a luncheon of over 150 people here today to inspire them for a very healthy lifestyle," said Joan Strayham, 2016 Go Red event chair.
Dr. Frances Lucas was the keynote speaker at the luncheon.
In case you were wondering, the color red is used to increase awareness.
