BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -
Hancock playmaker Colby Entriken make a gallant comeback in the third quarter and cut the 17 point deficit to 8 points. Justin Ladner, Aaron Feazelle, and Tyler Butler gave their all but the Admirals stayed cool under pressure and got the win.
Biloxi held a big lead over Harrison Central in the second boys game. The Red Rebels trailed 70-64 late in the game and the Indians wouldn't fold. Biloxi prevailed 77-70 to advance to face Gulfport in the title game.
Hancock and Harrison Central will play for the third and final playoff slot, the loser will go home for the season.
The Gulfport Lady Admirals were in control from the opening tip until the final buzzer in beating Biloxi 60-44. Coach Donny Fuller had his Lady Admirals running the offense to perfection. Jatiah Lathan launched a couple of treys to set the tone for the game and Gulfport didn't look back.
Gulfport and Harrison Central will clash in the girls championship game Friday. The Red Rebelettes had to come from behind to pull out a 33-31 win over Hancock. The Lady Hawks flew out in front 8-0. Kaylan Smith and Jaylin Ladner were having success inside the paint and Skylar Griffis found the net from outside.
Nancy Ladner watched ArieAnna Norwood connect on a three-point bucket and the Red Rebelettes ended their scoring drought. Hancock led 19-14 at the half. Harrison Central dominated the third quarter and outscored the Lady Hawks 11-2 giving the Red Rebelettes a 25-21 advantage. It would be a thrilling finish and Harrison Central slipped past Hancock 33-31 to punch their ticket to the championship game.
D'Iberville is hosting the Region 7-6A District Tournament. The homecourt advantage didn't help the Warriors.
St. Martin advanced to Friday's championship game with an impressive 68-49 win over D'Iberville. The Yellow Jackets will face George County in the title match. The Rebels defeated Ocean Springs 62-57.
In the girls bracket St. Martin coasted under the win column exploding past the Lady Warriors 45-14. Ocean Springs defeated the George County Lady Rebels to set up a title showdown with St. Martin Friday night.
The Region 8-5A District Tournament is being played at Gautier High School. In the boys semi-finals, Pascagoula advanced with a 32-25 win over the Gautier Gators. The Panthers will hook-up with West Harrison Friday in the championship game. The Hurricanes beat Long Beach 34-20 Monday night.
Pascagoula and West Harrison will also meet for the girls championship. The Lady Canes crushed Gautier 45-14 and face a talented Lady Panthers squad. Pascagoula defeated Long Beach 65-27 Monday night.
Region 7-5A is being played at Picayune High School. In boys action Picayune knocked off Pearl River Central 47-33. In the girls bracket Picayune beat Stone 51-29 and Hattiesburg popped Pearl River Central 57-17.
St. Stanislaus High School is the site of the Region 8-4A District Tournament. Vancleave advanced to the title game with a 42-28 victory over St. Stanislaus. Moss Point made its way to the boys championship game shooting down the East Central Hornets 61-36. The Tigers played aggressive defense and was off and running offensively. Aristole Rush, Kyshun Wordlaw, Marcus Brown, and DaJordan Williams all played extremely well.
In girls action, East Central beat Vancleave 43-33.
