OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) -

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality has lifted a water contact advisory in Ocean Springs for Front Beach from the Yacht Club to Jackson Avenue.

However MDEQ still has an advisory in place in Ocean Springs for Shearwater Beach from Weeks Bayou to Ashley. And there remains a water contact advisory for Waveland Beach From Oak Boulevard to Favre Street.

If you are planning to hit the beach, you'll want to avoid those sections of water in the Mississippi Sound. MDEQ warns if you swim in these parts of the Sound, the current high bacteria levels mean you have a higher chance of getting sick.

MDEQ will lift the remaining advisories when water samples show that levels are safe for human contact again.
